PROGRAMME CONTENT

It is an integrated entrepreneurial capacity-building program that provides entrepreneurship training and technical assistance to promote SME development by:

  • promoting entrepreneurship;
  • fostering individual entrepreneurial capabilities;
  • building institutional capacity at the country level; and beyond encouraging employment-creating investment and linkages both among SMEs as well as between large and small enterprises.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

The following groups are the main beneficiaries:

  • Existing small, medium and micro enterprises that have a track record of good business performance
  • Potential entrepreneurs with promising business ideas and high growth potential
  • Start-up companies with good bankable project proposals
  • Key institutions (banks, loan guarantee funds, entrepreneur associations, investment promotion agencies, SME support agencies)
  • Governments

PROGRAMME OUTLINE

The Workshop consists of 25 modules focusing on the ten Personal Entrepreneurial Competencies (PECs) that worldwide research has found to distinguish successful entrepreneurs from less successful entrepreneurs. Each module includes experiential activities designed to provide the opportunity for participants to recognize the specific PEC (or lack thereof) in themselves and to practice using that behavior.

Lectures, films and written materials contained in a Participant’s Notebook add a conceptual framework for understanding how a particular PEC is related to success as an entrepreneur, including the inter-relationships among the PEC behaviors.

The Workshop is divided into 3 Sections or “clusters” – Achievement, Planning and Power – corresponding to the key factors identified by research as being associated with successful entrepreneurship. Each of these sections is further divided into detailed half-day or full-day modules covering the Personal Entrepreneurial Competencies identified through research.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE

  • To become familiar with the behavioural competencies of successful entrepreneurs, i.e. the PECs
  • To look for, recognise and “code” those behaviours in themselves
  • To strengthen and enhance the behaviours they choose to work on through practice and reinforcement
  • To apply these behaviours in their own businesses
