Brief Description

  • PEPI is aimed at Micro Enterprises as a loan repayment scheme.
  • It is modelled after the UNDP Empretec Training Workshop (ETW)
    • The objective is to mentally and economically empower the youths, unemployed men and women through collaboration with Government desirous of providing micro and small medium enterprises that would help in reducing pressure on government as the sole provider of employment for the people and ultimately creating a reserve of skilled and well-trained youths.
    • ENF will manage the programme from conception, delivery & conclusion

 

Program Dynamics

 

  • 5-day Classroom Training - Basics of Book keeping, Marketing, Time Management, Business Plan etc
  • Vocational Workshop / Attachment  (2 weeks to 3 months based on Program Skill) to existing and vetted institutions in the neighborhood
  • Attendance and good performance mandatory for beneficiaries to graduate / continue in the program
  • Graduation / Certification Ceremony
  • Empowerment
  • Credit Process
  • Monitoring
  • Repayments

 

PROGRAMME MODALTIES

  1. A.       Entrepreneurship
  2. B.       Vocational, Educational and Career Counseling
  3. C.       Vocational Training

 

A & B would each be 1-day Programme offered to youths in batches of 1000, for 5 days. They are designed to:

 

  • Explore the concepts, challenges, risks, opportunities and rewards associated with setting up ones business.
  • Provide an overview of the behavioural characteristics of successful entrepreneurs, with some notable examples highlighted
  • Outline the various career opportunities available in the economy, the growth prospects of the different sectors of the economy (public and private) and the individual traits that often determine success or failure in careers.
  • Highlight the global shift towards education that emphasizes practical skills rather than academic knowledge

C: Vocational Training would require:

 

  •  the selection and requisite training of youths with aptitudes or passion for the various vocations at the micro and SME levels.
  • attachments to multi-purpose youth training centers (MPYTC) that are available in various parts of the country, or attachments to institutions willing to provide the apprenticeship training.

  • Fresh graduates whose technical and vocational training / skills would be greatly enhanced, through the workshops / attachment with the very important behavioral and entrepreneurial competencies that would make them efficient and give them a flying start as productive and effective managers of resources in their respective businesses – or capable employees should they choose to seek employment
  • An improved and higher quality class of SMEs who will impact their businesses and their communities more positively and profitably from the skills and disciplines imbibed in these workshops
